Solano Community Foundation Offers Workshop on PR
The seventh in this year’s Nonprofit Partnership Program workshop series at Solano Community Foundation is on Thursday, August 3rd. The title is “Publicity and Public Relations.” It begins at 1:00 p.m., and ends at 4:00 in SCF’s Buck Education and Training Center at 744 Empire Street, Suite 240, in Fairfield. Those who wish to attend must register through the SCF website, www.solanocf.org. Follow the link for the workshop schedule, or call the Foundation at 707-399-3846. One of the many challenges facing a nonprofit organization, especially a new one, is getting known, getting the message out, and carving a place in a crowded field that is unique and stands out from all the others. A professional in the field from 3fold Communications, a Sacramento-based, firm will lead this month’s workshop. The presenter will share the tips for successful publicity and public relations, including how to write a press release that will inspire editors to read and print. NPP membership is required to attend this workshop. SCF’s Nonprofit Partnership Program is open to any interested party, nonprofit or not. The cost is $50 a year and entitles two members from partner organizations to attend any or all workshops free of charge. There are other benefits as well, such as grants for professional development training; SCF’s website explains the benefits.
